| April 24, 2011 « Back « Previous Next » |
The Wellington Dukes are pleased to announce Rusty Hafner as their Player of the Month for April. The Dukes played ten games in the month including the five game OJHL final series against the Oakville Blades and the five games played at the Dudley Hewitt Cup. The Toledo, Ohio native who turned 20 years old last month was acquired by the Dukes in October, 2010 from the Carleton Place Canadians of the CHL. He led all Dukes defensemen in scoring during the OJHL playoffs including the overtime goal in game four against the Blades in the Buckland Cup Finals. In the championship game of the Dudley Hewitt he scored a goal and in one shift blocked two shots in the final period and was barely able to crawl to the bench. Next shift he was back on the ice and helped preserve the Dukes win.
Hafner still has a year of junior eligibility left and has NCAA aspirations. He and the rest of the Dukes leave this week to Camrose, Alberta to play in the Royal Bank Cup.
