Wellington Dukes captain Justin Bean has confirmed his commitment to join the York University Lions beginning with the 2017-18 OUA season. Last month the Lions captured their first ever Ontario University Athletics championship.
The Pickering, Ontario native recently completed his OJHL career with the Dukes (133 games, 87 points) after closing out his minor hockey with the Ajax-Pickering Raiders 'AAA' organization in 2011-12. He then played a season with the Uxbridge Bruins where he was named CJCHL Rookie-of-the-Year. Drafted by the Belleville Bulls he would play 76 OHL games with both the Bulls and the Mississauga Steelheads.
This past season saw him as just one of three Dukes players to play in all 54 regular season contests where he had 8 multi-point games including a four assist night in a win over the Lindsay Muskies. In the playoffs he was named twice the Hardest Working Player of the Game.
Dukes GM/Head Coach Marty Abrams stated: "Justin is a great addition to the York University hockey program both on and off the ice. He provided both great play and leadership for us and we wish him all the best as he enters the CIS in the fall."
