Brett Thorne is an 18 year old that has won league championships with both the Newbridge Academy Gladiators and the Dartmouth Major Midgets where he was named to the First All-Star Team. The native of Bedford, Nova Scotia was drafted by the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL in 2015 and has spent the past season at Ridley College.
Dukes GM/Associate Coach Ryan Woodward commented on his recent signings:
"Alec comes from great hockey bloodlines. He is a highly skilled, offensive defenseman that can quarter back the power-play and will add a veteran presence to our blue line next season. We are thrilled to welcome him and his family to Wellington.
Brett and his family had a lot of excellent programs to consider and we are thrilled they chose to continue his development in Wellington. He is a fierce competitor, delivers an excellent first pass and has the ability to join the rush. He plays the game extremely hard, and we expect him to have an immediate impact on our group."
