The Wellington Dukes got back in the win column with a convincing 7-1 win over the Caledon Admirals on Wednesday at the OJHL Governor’s Showcase.

Sacha Trudel and Ben Vreugdenhil each scored twice to help the Dukes snap a three-game losing skid.

Zach Mascard got the Dukes on the board with the lone goal of the first from Ronen MacFarlane and Quinn McNamara at 14:47, his second of the season.

Trudel buried an early marker in the second to send the Dukes on their road to victory.

Nasser Abou-Marie beat Jack Lisson on a Caledon powerplay, but the Admirals weren’t able to get any closer.

Ethan Murray set up Zander Latreille, who deked out Blake Sloan to make it 3-1 at 15:52, before Trudel got some help from Luc Warner to force a turnover and score in the final two minutes of the frame to increase the advantage to three.

Vreugdenhil buried his two in the third period, sandwiching by a marker from Jared McNeil where his laser shot popped the water bottle off the top of the Caledon net.

Assists went to McNamara, Warner (each with their first two points as a Duke), Murray (two), MacFarlane, Latreille, Vreugdenhil, Logan Sitlani, Cole Ellis, and Riley Noble.

Lisson made 30 stops to help the Dukes improve to 3-4 on the season. Wellington outshot Caledon 52-31 in the contest.

Wellington is off until Saturday against the Toronto Patriots at 7:30 p.m.
