Morocco and Vanstone promoted to OJHL Vice-President positions

The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today the promotion of Rick Morocco and Chris Vanstone.

Rick Morocco moves from the OJHL’s Director of Business Development and Events to Vice President of Business Operations. Rick has been with the OJHL since 2016 and has an extensive background in the sporting industry. Rick has more than 30 years of experience, with past employment including; Hockey Canada (Manager, Ontario Centre of Excellence), Ontario University Athletics Executive (Director), Professional Hockey Players Association (Director of Player Relations), Canadian Junior Hockey League (Executive Director) and Niagara Falls International Marathon (Managing Director). Rick competed for the Italian National team in a number of World Championships and at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France.

“Rick is a critical part of the Senior Leadership team within the OJHL. His vast experience within the game at a number of levels and variety of areas, both as a player and administrator, provide tremendous value to the league, our member teams and our players,” stated OJHL Commissioner Marty Savoy.

Chris Vanstone moves from the position of Director of Hockey Operations to the Vice-President of Hockey. Chris has an impressive background within the game and has been employed with the OJHL since 2018. Before joining the OJHL, Chris served as a general manager within the OJHL with a number of teams for more than 10 years. He was part of the Management and Coaching staff of the Oakville Blades team that represented the OJHL at the 2008 and 2009 national championships as OJHL Buckland Cup Champions. Chris served as the Director of Operations for Team Canada East at the 2018 and 2022 World Junior A Challenge, winning a silver medal in 2022. Chris has previous work experience as a player advisor and has helped more than 80 players/clients move on to higher levels of hockey.

“Chris’s knowledge, experience and success at the Junior level of the game allows him to serve in a senior leadership role within the league, which is a tremendous asset to our teams and players. Chris has always been one of the most respected individuals within the OJHL and our teams lean on his support in all areas of operations of their clubs,” said OJHL Commissioner Marty Savoy.

Both Rick and Chris currently serve as support staff to the OJHL Board of Directors and are members of the OJHL Strategic Leadership Team.
