PANTHERS CAN’T COPE: DUKES WIN 6 to 2

Wellington Dukes forward Trevor Cope scored two first period goals and assisted on three others in the final frame to give him a five point night and lead the Dukes to a 6 to 2 win over the Pickering Panthers.  His effort led him to be named 1st Star of the Game as well as being named Hardest Working Player of the Game.  Second Star of the Game was 17 year old rookie defenseman Trevor Abbot who had three assists on the night including one on the game winning goal.  Erick Delaurentis was named 3rd Star of the Game with a goal and three helpers.

Former Panther Andrew McCann scored the game winning goal while Andrew Coupland and Steven Deeg were the other goal scorers.  ALso picking up helpers were Joe McKeown (on GWG), Austin Broadhurst and Deeg.  Defensive Player of the Game was Cody Gratton while Adam Wood picked up his 5th win of the season facing 31 shots.

The Dukes finish the month of October with a 7 and 2 won/oss record, identical to their September record.  They now prepare to host the Cobourg Cougars on Friday with a 7:30 PM puck drop.
